In 1999 I was contracted by Su-Chen Hung to provide castings for Water Spells, commissioned by the city of Phoenix for the 23rd Avenue Waste Water Treatment Plant. The project, installed in March of 2001, entailed designing a font appropriate for the medium and casting five letters with embedments spelling water, 54 inches tall, with a cross section of 8 inches by 12 inches. The completed installation is 54 inches by 120 inches by 240 inches. The letter W and a detail of letter A appear below. |
