In 1996, I was contracted by Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel to design and cast five artifact windows for Five Skaters, an ice-skating commemorative commissioned by the San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program. Five Skaters is located in the Guadalupe River Park, San Jose, CA.
The project required unique embedment techniques, extensive experimentation, and development of a resilient optical interface between the glass cover plates and the acrylic castings. Each casting is 18" in diameter and weighs 200 lbs.

In 1998, I was contracted by Malcolm Jones to design, make the molds for, and cast five acrylic arches, 5 feet wide and varying in length from 16 feet to 20 feet, for Surfhenge, a surf commemorative commissioned by the Port of San Diego for the city of Imperial Beach. Casting completed in October 1998. Installed July 1999.

In 1999, I was contracted by Su-Chen Hung to provide castings for Water Spells,
commissioned by the city of Phoenix for the 23rd Avenue Waste Water Treatment
Plant. The project, installed in March of 2001, entailed designing a font appropriate
for the medium and casting five letters with embedments spelling water, 54 inches
tall, with a cross section of 8 inches by 12 inches. The completed installation is 54
inches by 120 inches by 240 inches. The letter W and a detail of letter A appear below.

In 2002, I was contracted by Su-Chen Hung for a second site at Water Spells, commissioned by the city of Phoenix for the 23rd Avenue Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The project makes visual five sequential stages of water treatment at the plant. The finished piece consists of five castings, joined with optical silicone to suggest the form of a saguaro cactus.
